The story began in the early '90s in South Korea when Sarah started making homemade ice cream for her daughter, Annie. After retiring in 2018, Sarah rekindled her passion for ice cream making, developing original recipes with high-quality, all-natural ingredients. Today, each of their three locations uses fresh, local milk sourced from Maryland farms, crafting all ingredients in-house, including cakes, brownies, and cookies. With a dedication to quality, they produce 40 flavors in small batches, avoiding mass production entirely. Their commitment to the community runs deep, as they actively support local schools, the YMCA, NIH Children's Inn, hospitals, and various nonprofits.

Annie Park

Annie Park graduated from Boston College with a bachelor's degree in music and communications. She accepted a position with Teach for America teaching ESL full-time in inner-city Baltimore, and that program allowed her to earn a master's degree in education from the Johns Hopkins University. In 2015, she enrolled in a one-year program at Harvard University and earned a master's in policy and management. Despite her background in education, she found herself gravitating toward entrepreneurial projects. In 2019, Park joined her mother in opening the original Sarah's Handmade Ice Cream in Bethesda. They now own three stores, and the original location in Bethesda brings in nearly $1.1 million in annual revenue.
