This course will explore the mysteries of your body's hidden defense system, the human immune system. We will discuss how the immune system fights off infection and disease, maintains health, and protects against complex disorders like cancer and autoimmune disease. The course will begin with a description of the cells of the immune system and how they function. We will explore how cells ''communicate" with each other and examine the mechanisms of how some immune cells can even improve with each onslaught. We will discuss what happens when immune health is compromised and cutting-edge immunotherapies designed to stimulate immune protection against cancer, autoimmune disease, and infection. This course is for individuals seeking a comprehensive understanding of the immune system. Discussions will include in depth molecular and cellular immunology, presented in accessible language that requires no prior scientific background. The aims of the course are to provide you with knowledge about the human immune system so that you can make informed health decisions and better understand the impact of lifestyle choices on immune health.
