This course offers a friendly, non-technical introduction to artificial intelligence (AI) for adult learners of all backgrounds. Designed for those with no prior programming experience, it explores the fundamental concepts, real-world applications, and societal impacts of AI, with special attention to everyday uses, emerging trends, and robotics. Learners will gain the confidence to understand and discuss AI, recognizing both its opportunities and challenges in modern life. We will begin by defining Artificial Intelligence with a brief history and evolution, including examples of where we encounter AI today. Sessions two and three will explore key concepts of AI as well as its use in everyday life. Further, we will consider robotics and the future of AI-powered machines. Session five covers AI ethical considerations and societal impacts while session six includes a guided exploration of AI-powered tools. The class members will emerge with a better understanding of AI fundamentals and more confidence to discuss current and future trends while engaging with AI responsibly.
