We will explore how artificial intelligence is reshaping creativity by looking at today's leading artists who use AI to highlight societal issues. We will learn about historical developments and technological advancements in AI by analyzing world-class artworks that ask their audiences to consider the ethical and philosophical questions surrounding AI's role in the arts and its potential to redefine creativity and expression in the 21st century. We will discover that AI is hardly a brand-new technology and that artists have been using it for decades to draw attention to social justice issues that are just beginning to manifest. We will be guided by the idea that "Art is a Distant Early Warning system that can always be relied on to tell the old culture what is beginning to happen to it." -Marshall McLuhan
