This class will continue discussion of the lives and careers of some of America's greatest contributors of American musical theatre, including Jerome Kern, Leonard Bernstein, Jerry Bock, Sheldon Harnick, Oscar Hammerstein, and Stephen Sondheim. There will be many performance clips, along with interviews with these creative geniuses.

Daniel Sherman

Dan Sherman, PhD, is a PhD economist (Cornell 1985) whose interests include opera and American musical theatre. Since 2010, Dan has taught over 25 courses to Osher and other groups on classical composers and great musical theatre composers and lyricists. He has also spoken to Wagner Societies in the United States and in London, and to many social and university groups in the Washington, DC area.
