Have you ever wondered where we came from? Have you been curious what evidence (and therefore proof) scientists have of evolution? Are you curious about what might happen to humans in the future? This course will attempt to answer these questions and more in the context of Cultural Anthropology. We will cover human biological and cultural evolution with an emphasis on human genetics, the theories of evolution, human variation, primatology, the fossil evidence for human evolution, and prehistory.

Tanya Icaza

Tanya Icaza, MA, has an Applied Anthropology degree from University of Maryland in environmental anthropology with a focus on food and agriculture. For the past 10 years, she has been an adjunct lecturer in anthropology at a variety of universities and community colleges. She has a passion for teaching students of all ages and finding ways to connect their studies with their everyday lives. Her focus on the anthropological study of the impacts of climate change on our diet and agricultural practices is an important one in order to discover how we can solve food crises in the coming years, which is essential to the healthy future of our planet.
