Join Osher instructor, Nora Hamerman for a special two-hour special class at the Baltimore Museum of Art: The Masters of the Print Media 1400-1900. This class will be held in the museum's renowned Print Room, which has one of the finest collections of works on paper of any museum in North America. We will look at original prints across five major techniques: woodcut, engraving, etching, aquatint, and lithography. We'll explore the historical evolution of each method and see examples by celebrated masters including Albrecht Durer, Rembrandt, Goya and Hokusai, with subjects that range from Biblical and mythological themes to witchcraft to landscapes and scenes of everyday life. Although we often think of prints as black and white, we will see how color printing evolved as early as the 1500s and how specialists upgraded black and white prints with hand coloring in the Renaissance era.
Group will be limited to 12 participants. Paid parking is available at the museum, and there are often street parking spaces nearby.
Fee: | $15.00 |
