Explore the fundamentals of drawing in this six-week course designed for all experience levels. This course is ideal for you if you're looking to build your confidence in drawing in a relaxed atmosphere. We'll focus on learning to truly see-translating what you observe into lines, shapes, and values with graphite, watercolors, and charcoal. Through guided instruction and hands-on practice, you'll explore essential concepts such as gesture, contour, value, and composition. The course includes work with still life, self-portrait, and drawing from photos, helping you build confidence and skill at your own pace. Sessions feature a mix of instructor demonstrations, exercises, studio time, and group critique to support your artistic growth.

Marcie Wolf-Hubbard
Marcie shares her love of drawing, painting, and mixed media-often inspired by nature-through teaching and community engagement. She received the 2022 Nancy Frankel Artist Award and earned multiple grants from the Maryland State Arts Council and the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County for artist residencies, professional development, and artist/scholar work.Her paintings and sculpture have been widely exhibited along the East Coast. She teaches students of all ages, including individuals with special needs and seniors with dementia. Marcie has also illustrated for books and magazines.
She holds a B.A. in Studio Art from the University of Maryland and studied Fine Art & Illustration at the Maryland Institute College of Art. Marcie teaches at Glen Echo Park, Yellow Barn Studios, and the Smithsonian. She serves as Education/Social Team Leader for Ch/Art (Chevy Chase Artists) and is an active member of Teaching Artists of the Mid-Atlantic (TAMA) and the Washington Sculptors Group.
