Join Osher instructor, Nora Hamerman for this tour which coincides with two of her fall classes. The Early Northern Renaissance: This part includes Jan Van Eyck's Annunciation - his most important painting in North America - and works by other major masters of the 15th century including Robert Campin, Rogier van der Weyden, Petrus Christus, Hans Memling, and Gerard David. Raphael: The National Gallery has the most important group of paintings by the High Renaissance master Raphael in the Western Hemisphere. Included are: three Madonna and Child pictures from three different times in his career, including the world-renowned Alba Madonna; an early "St. George and the Dragon," and his dreamy portrait of Bindo Altoviti. The tour will also view works by Raphael's mentors Leonardo da Vinci, Signorelli, and Perugino, and some of Raphael's gifted disciples. This is a drive-yourself outing. You will meet Nora at 10:20 a.m. in the Rotunda. Registration is required so that we can provide Nora with a list of attendees and their cell phone numbers to communicate the day of the trip if necessary.
