Barry Levinson, acclaimed writer and director of such diverse films as The Natural, Good Morning, Vietnam, Bugsy, Rain Main and Wag the Dog, created his most personal statement in a quartet of films about growing up Jewish in Baltimore. These films, Diner, Tin Men, Avalon, and Liberty Heights are both funny and revelatory of a particular time and place. Having grown up in New York City, the instructor will depend on the insights and experiences of the class Baltimoreans, as we enjoy and discuss these wonderful films.
