Join us for five compelling presentations this year by Johns Hopkins Medicine faculty. Each program brings you information about the latest advancements and medical research regarding a specific topic:

Gender Differences (Sept. 19) - Johns Hopkins internist Wendy Bennett shares research findings about the impact of sex and gender on prevention and management of chronic health conditions including diabetes and heart disease.

The Aging Eye (Sept. 26) - As we age, so do our eyes. Conditions may emerge including dry eyes, cataracts, low vision, diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration. Join us as ophthalmologist Shameema Sikder from Johns Hopkins describes these conditions, current treatments and research to reduce resulting compromised vision.

A Primer on Mental Health (Oct. 10) - Depression and mood disorders have soared since the COVID-19 pandemic. Johns Hopkins psychiatrist Ashley Bone discusses the hallmarks of mental illness and how to help those who have it.

A Game Changer: The Role of Artificial Intelligence in the Early Detection of Cancer (Oct. 17) - Elliot Fishman, a radiologist at Johns Hopkins, reveals how computerized tomography, better known as CT or CAT scan, will revolutionize the physician's ability to diagnose cancer in its early stages by using three-dimensional images, texture mapping and artificial intelligence to transform cancer diagnosis, treatment and survival.

Emerging Research on Dementia (Oct. 24) - Did you know that up to half of all dementias are preventable? What distinguishes types of dementia, including Alzheimer's disease, vascular dementia and mixed dementia, from one another? NIH and Johns Hopkins Adjunct Professor of neurology Rebecca Gottesman discloses the results of her research about delaying and treating dementia, the relationship between lifestyle factors and risks of dementia, and insights into new research pursuits.
