This course studies the Supreme Court under Justice John G. Roberts, Jr., who was appointed to the court by President George W. Bush in 2005. We'll cover administrative considerations like the Chevron doctrine and other major questions facing the court. Matters of substantive due process, like Dobbs v. Jackson's Women's Health Organization and the future of transgender rights, privacy, and marriage will be considered. Other topics include voting, race, education, and culture wars, as well as procedural issues of standing, precedent, and nationwide injunctions. The final class session will examine the newest free speech issues facing the Roberts Court. Class members will emerge with a better understanding of the court lead by Justice Roberts.
