Has the color barrier been broken on opera's international stage? The verdict is still out, but in this class, using archival and rare videos, we will take a comprehensive and interactive look at how far artists of color of the past were able to come (who can forget Marian Andersen and Leontyne Price?); the present (have you heard Pretty Yende or Angel Blue?), and the future up-and-coming talent coming out of Asia, Russia, Malta and performers from the US and Europe. Let's learn about & discuss the barriers still facing people of color in opera.
Fee: $40.00
